Uncle Skunk started with NY natives Henry Pearson and Otis Streeter writing music together in 2018. During the coronavirus pandemic, the duo recorded a multitude of songs together. With the pandemic roaring, and no sign that they would ever be able to play live, the duo decided to put their musical partnership on hold. However, in late 2021, they reunited and added Sam Benezra (guitar), Robert Kim (bass) and Teddy Sidiropoulos (drums) as permanent members.

In 2023, the band travelled to a remote upstate NY house, and got to work on what would eventually be their first release with Cropsey Records, II. The EP was released in June 2024 to rave reviews. Critics and fans agree that the Skunks have created a new and exciting sound, one that draws influence from noise rock, folk, and various psychedelic influences. Songs like Old Violence and Found a Way have broken out as hits. Leo Frampton of the Cropsey Beat, was quoted as saying the guitarmony on Found a Way was his favorite guitarmony of the year.

Now, the skunks are buckling down to record their first full length LP with Cropsey Records.
